About Institute

The Kaunas Information Technology Institute is a research and higher education institution with a mission of knowledge and technology transfer to industry in the area of information technology. KITI emphasizes a cross-disciplinary approach with applications in software services, transportation, logistics un urban development.

The main areas of specialization are enterprise integration including advanced enterprise applications and business process improvement, development of scalable cloud solutions for big data processing, data mining and machine learning including applications in cybersecurity and biotechnology, modeling and optimization of complex systems, development of digital twins as well as digital transformation of organization by using advanced information technologies.

KITI provides companies test and development environments for prototyping and implementing advanced ICT solutions. Several Enterprise Resource Planning systems are available to investigated business process improvement possibilities and application integration. Cloud computing infrastructure is available to develop horizontally scalable systems and to implement computationally demanding analytical solutions. A simulation modeling and digital twin development platform is available for creating models of complex systems and conducting experiments.

Bachelor’s academic studies

Various types of companies and organizations use information technology (IT) to solve business problems. The task of an IT specialist is to ensure the selection, creation, integration and maintenance of the most suitable solutions according to the needs of users. The Kaunas Information Technology Institute academic bachelor’s study program “Information technologies” prepares information technology specialists who have basic knowledge and skills in computer science and computer technologies, including programming, database management systems, operating systems, computer networks, and who are able to evaluate and choose suitable means and methods for business problem-oriented IT for modelling, development and implementation of solutions. In the study program, special attention is paid to system modeling, data analysis, decision support systems, IT management, project management and application of information technology.

The project-oriented approach is widely used in information technology, and project management plays an essential role in the successful implementation of information technology. The Kaunas Information Technology Institute professional master’s study program “Information technology” prepares information technology specialists with in-depth knowledge in the management and implementation of information technology projects, who are able to evaluate and choose optimal means and methods for the implementation of business problem-oriented IT solutions and practically implement the implementation of these solutions in companies. The study program has been developed in accordance with professional standards and the requirements of the information technology industry. Graduates of the study program obtain a master’s professional degree in information technology and the highest professional qualification of information technology project manager.
